GC ZURICH SIGNS STRIKER DORIAN BABUNSKI

Grasshopper Club Zürich is pleased to confirm the transfer of Dorian Babunski. The 26-year-old has signed a two-year contract with an option for a one year extension. The dual national from Spain and North Macedonia joins GC Zurich from Hungarian A-League club Debrecen for an undisclosed fee.

Babunski began his career at Real Madrid’s academy before progressing to Fuenlabrada. He subsequently played for NK Olimpija and NK Radomlje in Slovenia, followed by a stint in Japan with Machida Zelvia and Kagoshima United.

At Debrecen he accumulated 48 appearances and scored 18 goals. Notably, he was recognised as the Player of the Month in February this year for his substantial contributions to the team's achievements. With six appearances already for the North Macedonian national team, he brings valuable experience to the pitch. As part of his upcoming engagements, he is set to represent his country in the European Championship qualifiers next month.

Bern Haas Sports Director says: “With Dorian’s background we expect another enhancement for our offensive capabilities. His qualities make him an ideal addition to the squad.”

Coming from a football-centric family, he Babunski followed in the footsteps of his father and brother, both professional football players. With his brother, David Babunski, he played together at Debrecen while his father, now a coach, has a history of playing in several first league clubs.

Grasshopper Club Zurich extends a warm welcome and wishes him every success in Zurich.
