Manuel Kuttin is a familiar face in Zurich. The 29-year-old Austrian, who has 67 Austrian Bundesliga and 5 Europa League appearances, was already part of the GC squad last season during Moreira's absence due to injury.
Nicolas Glaus is a young Swiss goalkeeper who joins from VfB Stuttgart. The 21-year-old went through all youth levels of FC Basel as a junior before moving to the Bundesliga club in 2021. In Stuttgart, Glaus mainly played for the second team, with whom he played 19 games and kept five clean sheets. Now he is returning to Switzerland to strengthen the Hoppers' goalkeeping team.
For Glaus, who will train with the team in Zurich from today, there are still minor formalities to be completed before he will sign the new contract with the Zurich record champions.
Sporting director Bernt Haas: "We extend a warm welcome to Manuel and Nicolas in Zurich. Manuel already knows the club and will act as second goalkeeper. With his experience and human skills, he will accompany our young goalkeepers Justin and Nicolas in the best possible way and contribute to their further development. Nicolas shows great potential and is certainly an exciting profile for the future. He will also be able to gain regular playing practice with the U21s."
Grasshopper Club Zurich is looking forward to working with Manuel and Nicolas and wishes them every success in Zurich.
GC Zurich and Moreira go separate ways
The club could not come to an agreement with André Moreira about a possible contract extension after long talks. The sporting board has decided to rely on Justin Hammel and promote the 22-year-old to first-choice goalkeeper.
"We thank André for his commitment over the past two years. He has saved the team points several times with his strong performances. Unfortunately, we could not agree on an extension of our cooperation. We wish him all the best for the future and hope that he can achieve his personal goals," said sporting director Bernt Haas.
"We are now happy to be able to rely on a young and reliable Swiss goalie like Justin. Last season, despite his young age, he already proved his qualities and strong personality and will continue to develop significantly with Jörg Stiel in the future."
