New faces in the Youth Department

Fritz Schmid assumes the role of Head of Youth Development until the summer. Kristijan Djordjevic appointed as new U19 Head Coach

Grasshopper Club Zurich has announced that Fritz Schmid will take over as Youth Technical Director until the end of the current season.

Schmid began his career as an academy player at GC Zurich, before becoming a youth coach and assistant coach of the first team. He then worked for various Swiss clubs before gaining experience as assistant coach of the Austrian national team, technical director in Malaysia and coach of New Zealand’s national team. Most recently, Schmid worked as a technical consultant for FIFA and UEFA. His expertise makes him the ideal support for the club while a long-term solution is sought.

Grasshopper Club Zürich is also delighted to announce the appointment of Kristijan Djordjevic as the new U19 Head Coach. The former Bundesliga midfielder played for VfB Stuttgart and ended his career at FC Schalke 04 in 2004. Following his playing career, Djordjevic began coaching at FC Villingen in the Black Forest, Germay. He went on to work for several clubs, including FC St. Gallen as U18 and U21 coach and FC Schaffhausen, where he was assistant to Murat Yakin. Most recently, he was Head Coach of FC Tägerwilen in the 2nd Interregional League.

Grasshopper Club Zürich warmly welcomes Fritz and Kristijan to Zurich and looks forward to a successful collaboration.
