GC VISITS BASEL
On Sunday, GC travels to Basel for the first time this season. There, FC Basel 1893 will welcome them for the 8th CSSL round.
The Hoppers returned to winning ways last weekend with a 3-0 home victory over Winterthur, responding to their first defeat in Geneva. Now the Zurich team travels to Basel on Sunday. Head coach Giorgio Contini's team has never won away from home, with three draws and one defeat in four away games. Last season, they drew twice in Basel. Head coach Giorgio Contini is not expecting an easy game at St. Jakob-Park this time either: "A big challenge awaits us against Basel. An opponent who has a lot of talent and quality and can of course count on the support of their fans at home. Even though they have not yet been able to convert everything into points in terms of results, it is an opponent where we have to be careful. I expect a GC that is courageous and wants to make the game positive. We need aggression, a good understanding of the game and tactical flexibility. We are confident that this will work."
The FCB started the 2022/23 season cautiously, with one win, three draws and two defeats from six matches played. As a result, they are currently in 8th place, with the game against FC Luzern (postponed) still to come. In addition to the league and the Swiss Cup, Basel is also represented in the Europa Conference League. Last Thursday, they beat the Armenian team FC Pjunik Yerevan 3:1.
For the match against Basel, head coach Giorgio Contini still has to do without Florian Hoxha and Tsiy Ndenge due to injury. In addition, Dion Kacuri suffered an unintentional injury to his right foot in yesterday's training session (more information here) and Bendegúz Bolla is questionable. But Noah Loosli returns from his red suspension and Sangbin Jeong is also back from injury.
The match can be followed as usual on 86live via live ticker and radio. In addition, the match can be watched for free through the livestream on Onefootball.
