STATEMENT: PROTECTING EMPLOYEES FROM DISCRIMINATION AND MISINFORMATION

Grasshopper Club Zurich condemns any form of discrimination against our employees. The recent rumours about the position of Sport Director stem from evidently fabricated information disseminated through a fake e-mail address and led directly to racist abuse of one of our employees.

It is unacceptable that our employees, who have nothing to do with these rumours, are the victims of public hostility and racist insults. We distance ourselves from media that deliberately spread fake news without adhering to basic principles and verifying the sources of information.

As an employer and football club, we are committed to protecting our employees and their right to privacy. We will no longer tolerate platforms that deliberately publish false information without prior consultation. We reserve the right to take legal action against individuals or groups who make discriminatory or racist comments about our employees, whether on or off the pitch.

President Matt Jackson says: "We aim to be open, approachable and transparent in our communication, inviting everyone who wants to talk to us to come to the Campus. We cannot tolerate our employees becoming the subject of stories for the sake of creating headlines. While we value our relationships with the media, we expect them to respect our employees' as individuals and their privacy rights."

We will continue to take decisive action against discrimination and the spread of fake news to protect the rights and safety of our employees in the long term.
