Thanks to a 0:4 away win at Spielvereinigung Schaffhausen, the Hoppers qualified for the next round of the Swiss Cup. Pascal Schürpf's debut in a competitive match after recovering from injury was the highlight of the game. Schürpf needed just four minutes to score his first goal in a GC shirt. Now it's back to the league for the Hoppers against FC Luzern.
Head coach Bruno Berner before the match against Luzern: "We are full of confidence, working meticulously on our development and continue to lay our foundations week after week. At the same time, we know how important it is to deliver results. It is precisely in this balance that the challenge lies. With that, we will bring the best possible out of ourselves to get the three points against FC Luzern."
FC Luzern are currently one point ahead of the Hoppers in the table. While they qualified for the next round in the Swiss Cup last weekend (0:6 win against Winkeln), the Central Swiss side had to cancel their hopes on the European stage. They were eliminated against Hibernian Edinburgh with a total score of 3:5. In the CSSL, they last played out a 1-1 draw against Bern Young Boys, with the equaliser coming in stoppage time.
Head coach Bruno Berner will have to do without Tsiy Ndenge and Giotto Morandi for the match against Luzern. Ndenge will be unavailable due to a calf muscle injury. Morandi has meanwhile returned to team training and Meritan Shabani is expected to be available again. New signings Joshua Laws and Awer Mabil are also ineligible (pending work permit).
The match can be followed as usual on 86live via live ticker and radio. In addition, the match can be seen on pay TV on blue Sport.
