The Australian centre-back was born in Glasgow, raised in Sydney and also holds a British passport. At the age of 14, he moved to Germany, where he played for Fortuna Düsseldorf's youth academy and later for the second team before moving to Wellington Phoenix.
Standing at 1.85 metres height, Laws made his Phoenix debut in the 2020/21 season securing a contract that extended until July 2023. With 50 appearances he proved to be an essential presence in Wellington’s starting eleven in Wellington, contributing to notable victories.
He further represented both Scotland and Australia at youth level. Laws made four appearances for the Scotland U-16 side before playing for Australia at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. He also represented his country at the AFC U-23 Championship in 2020.
Sports Director Bernt Haas says: “Joshua’s left-footed versatility allows him to excel in multiple positions. We are happy to have him in our squad as he will additionally strengthen our defence with his experience.”
Laws is excited to join GC Zurich and says: "I am delighted with the opportunity to be a part of this team and excited by the plans that Bruno has for the squad. My goal is to integrate quickly and make a meaningful difference on the pitch."
