GC ZURICH HOSTS FC BASEL 1893

For GC Zurich, the 3rd CSSL round continues at home. The Hoppers will host FC Basel 1893.

Giotto Morandi secured the Hoppers a point in Lausanne last weekend with his equaliser. This is the Hoppers' first point win of the new season. Especially in the first half, the Zurich team was very active on the offensive: "We had a lot planned for the game and we put it into practice. The only thing that was missing was the opening goal. Otherwise, we were very satisfied with the first half," said head coach Bruno Berner, looking back on the last away game. Next Saturday, the team wants to build on this first half and take the first points at home.

Head coach Bruno Berner before the match against Basel: "The exhaustion [after the qualifying match for the UEFA Conference League in Kazakhstan] is certainly big for Basel. They surely want to show a reaction and still have energy in the tank, but so do we. We had a good week and are looking forward to the game against Basel."

FC Basel 1893 started the new season with a 1:2 defeat in Eastern Switzerland against FCSG, but this was followed by a clear 5:2 home win in the 2nd CSSL round against FC Winterthur. During the week, however, the Basle side suffered an exit in the Conference League, losing 4-3 on aggregate score to FC Tobyl Qostanai and thus dropping out of European competition.

For the match against Basel, head coach Bruno Berner will still have to do without Pascal Schürpf, Nigel Lonwijk and Meritan Shabani due to injury. Otherwise, Berner has the entire squad at his disposal.

The match can be followed as usual on 86live via live ticker and radio. In addition, the match can be seen on pay TV on blue Sport.
