Kempter was trained in FCZ's youth department and made his Super League debut in 2016. Around four years later, he moved to the Challenge League to Neuchatel Xamax before being signed by FC St. Gallen in 2021. The former junior international of Switzerland and current senior international of the Philippines made 25 appearances for the team from eastern Switzerland. Now he is moving to the record champions on a free transfer and will start preparing with Bruno Berner's team on 19 June.
Sporting director Bernt Haas: "With Michael Kempter, we are signing a dynamic defender who can also be deployed in midfield. With his experience in Swiss football and his technical qualities, he will strengthen our left axis. We are very much looking forward to welcoming him to Zurich."
Grasshopper Club Zürich is looking forward to working with Michael Kempter and wishes him every success in Zurich.
