BRUNO BERNER BECOMES THE NEW HEAD COACH

Grasshopper Club Zurich is delighted to present Bruno Berner as its new head coach following intensive talks. The 45-year-old native of Zurich, who was twice champion as a player with Grasshoppers, has signed a two-year contract with the record champions and will lead the Hoppers from the sidelines starting next season.

Sporting director Bernt Haas: "We are very pleased to have been able to sign Bruno, our absolute dream candidate, and are proud that he wants to return to Grasshopper Club Zurich. He has GC DNA and knows exactly what it means to be allowed to play for these colours. With his skills and experience, also in youth development, he is a perfect fit for our club. We are looking forward to taking the next step with him and wish him every success with us in Zurich."

Bruno Berner: "I am very happy to return to Grasshopper Club Zurich, a club that means a lot to me. The anticipation is great to take on this new task together with the club to create a sustainable and successful future and at the same time to further develop the individual players. With a lot of passion and hard work, we want to inspire our fans again and give them a lot of joy with our way of playing football."

Bruno Berner will be introduced to the media at the resumption of training on 19 June at the GC/Campus. Until then, neither club representatives nor the new GC coach will provide any further information on the matter. Details of the media conference, as well as other additions to the coaching staff, will be announced in due course.

With the signing of Bruno Berner, Grasshopper Club Zurich is officially parting ways with Giorgio Contini. The entire club would like to take this opportunity to thank Giorgio for his commitment over the past two years and wish him all the best in his private and professional life.
