Grasshopper Club Zurich is pleased to announce that André Moreira has been voted Player of the Season 2022/2023 with 38% of all votes. With this vote, the GC fans recognise his outstanding performance, in which he was a safe back-up for the Hoppers.
Despite a long injury break, Moreira stood in goal for GC Zurich a total of 28 times in the 22/23 season. Moreira's performances between the posts were a decisive factor in several games. Especially in the second half of the season, the number 1 showed strong saves and was twice awarded the "SFL Player of the Round".
After learning of the award, André Moreira expressed his gratitude to the fans and said: "I want to thank you [GC fans] for the support. Not only for me, but for the whole team. We appreciate it. Thank you for voting me as your player of the season. It's a great honour to be your number one and to be voted."
Moreira is the third player to receive the award. He follows previous players of the seasons Dominik Schmid (21/22) and Mateo Matic (20/21).
