Grasshopper Club Zurich is pleased to announce the contract extension with its captain Amir Abrashi. The 50-time Albanian international from Bischofszell has prolonged his contract with GC, which was set to expire in June, for a further year until the summer of 2024.
Captain Amir Abrashi has been back playing for the Hoppers since June 2021, after having worn the blue and white shirt from 2010 to 2015. At that time, the 32-year-old midfielder was, among other things, an important part of the team that won the Swiss Cup in 2013.
So far, captain Abrashi has played a total of 185 official matches for Grasshopper Club Zürich and has led the Hoppers to victory several times with his energy and fighting spirit. Now the story continues: Abrashi has extended his contract with the record champions for another year.
"It was a clear and very easy decision for me. I am very happy that I can look forward to playing another year for my favorite club," said Amir Abrashi upon signing the contract. "I thank the club's management for the trust they constantly put in me and I will continue to do my best to help the team on and off the pitch."
Sporting director Bernt Haas added: "Amir is an important part of this team and plays a crucial role from all points of view. He knows exactly what it means to play for Grasshopper Club Zürich and leads the team on and off the pitch with great dedication and passion. We are happy to be able to count on such an important player and exemplary person for another year."
Grasshopper Club Zurich is looking forward to sharing many more emotions with its captain and wishes him every success for the current season.
