STATEMENT ON LEAGUE REFORM

Grasshopper Club Zürich fully accepts the outcome of the voting at today's SFL General Assembly and is looking forward to shaping the future of Swiss football together with the other clubs.

Ahead of today’s GA, after careful consideration and intensive discussions with the various stakeholders, the club decided to continue to support the format that was overwhelmingly approved at the last SFL General Assembly in May earlier this year.

This decision was based on the fact that the situation has remained largely unchanged since then and that there has been no constructive and joint discussions between the clubs about the possible alternatives. Given the difficulties to identify clear advantages related to the recently proposed alternative, the club did not consider it professional and credible to already declare this innovative model a failure without having first made a serious attempt.

Nevertheless, Grasshopper Club Zürich fully accepts the solution advocated by a majority and at the same time is pleased that this solution meets the wishes of many football fans. The club looks forward to working with the other teams and the league to smoothly implement the new format, in order to make the championship as attractive as possible for all stakeholders, in the best interests of Swiss football.
