THE SECOND ZURICH DERBY IS COMING UP

At the end of the English week, the Hoppers meet FC Zurich away. The derby is under the sign of "Football against violence".

On Thursday, the Hoppers had to admit defeat against Servette with 2:3 despite the comeback. At the same time, this is the first defeat in Zurich for GC and the fifth game in a row without a full win. "We are not so spoilt for success at the moment, which is why it is important to stay determined and take the chances. The reaction was there, the team played a good game but couldn't reward themselves with the chances they created. There were one or two mistakes too many, but basically we have a positive feeling from the way we performed against Servette," said head coach Giorgio Contini. Now the second Zurich derby of the current season is on the agenda. "Regardless of whether it's a derby or not, we will play to win. We have to bring a lot of energy into the duel and force luck on our side and also be efficient in taking our chances," said Contini about the upcoming match.

FCZ is still in last place in the table with six points. Last Thursday, FC Zurich played away in Basel and got a point at St. Jakob-Park while being one man less. As a result, the city rivals are unbeaten in the championship since coach Bo Henriksen took over and have played 0-0 three times in a row recently (against Winterthur, YB and Basel).

The 280th Zurich derby is under the sign of "Football against violence". Grasshopper Club Zurich and FC Zurich will send a clear signal against violence and the recurring riots between supporters of the two teams. GC Zurich will also be wearing a special orange derby shirt, which has been specially designed for this occasion. In this way, Grasshopper Club Zürich wants to sensitise all its fans to this issue and at the same time play an active role in the prevention of violence. For the match against FCZ, head coach Giorgio Contini will still have to do without the long-term injured Hoxha, Kacuri, Moreira, Nadjack and Jeong. In return, central defender Ayumu Seko returns from his red suspension.
