Grasshopper Club Zurich and Georg Margreitter have extended their cooperation for another year ahead of schedule. The Austrian centre-back, who is currently recovering from a syndesmotic ankle sprain, has extended his contract with GC Zürich, which expires in June, for further 12 months until the summer of 2023.
After his arrival, Margreitter quickly became a leading force in the Grasshoppers defence. With his experience and defensive skills, he plays a crucial role in guiding the team on and off the pitch. The vice-captain has also proven to be a major threat in attack, having scored four goals in 20 games this season, two of which against the city rivals in the Zurich derby.
Georg Margreitter expressed his excitement after the extension: "It was a logical decision for me to extend my stay in Zurich until the end of the 2023 season. I have felt at home here from the very beginning and I am extremely happy to be able to play for these colours for another year."
"We are very pleased to have already extended Georg's contract for another year. He has quickly become a leader of this team and can be decisive both defensively and offensively. We are glad to be able to count on his experience and leadership skills on and off the pitch next season as well," said Technical Director Seyi Olofinjana.
