Grasshopper Club Zürich have signed 18-year-old Chinese striker Jia Boyan from Shanghai Port. The young attacking player will initially be loaned to Croatian second tier side NK Dubrava Tim Kabel for the second part of the season to further his development.
Jia Boyan grew up in the youth academies of Shanghai Lucky Star and Shanghai Port. At the age of 16, in August 2020, he made his debut in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Port, which made him the third youngest player to debut in the highest Chinese division. Jia was selected among the 60 best young talents in world football by The Guardian in 2020 and currently plays for the Chinese youth national team.
Technical Director Seyi Olofinjana said: Jia is a young talent, who has shown great potential, while still a teenager. With the loan to NK Dubrava Tim Kabel we hope to provide him with the opportunity to get his first taste of European football and further develop as a player.
