Marco Schällibaum's team suffered a setback away in Winterthur before the national team break. In the end, they were narrowly beaten on the Schützenwiese and were unable to confirm the victory from the previous week in Bern. The Grasshoppers used the national team break for a test match against Challenge League co-leaders Neuchâtel Xamax. They clearly won the friendly game 6:0.
FCZ also tested against a Challenge League team during the national team break. They drew 2:2 against FC Vaduz. Prior to that, the last three CSSL games resulted in one win, one draw and one defeat. Most recently, they drew 1:1 at home to Lugano, meaning that FCZ, together with Lugano and Lucerne, are level on points at the top of the table.
Head coach Marco Schällibaum will be without the long-term injured Dorian Babunski and the injured Tsiy Ndenge, Maksim Paskotši and Asumah Abubakar against FCZ. Otherwise, Schällibaum has the entire squad at his disposal.
