The team went behind after just two minutes in last Saturday's away game against Lausanne-Sport. Marco Schällibaum's team were unable to respond to the early deficit and were ultimately beaten 3:0. The Zurich team are still waiting for their first points in the month of October. The team will have the chance to do so tomorrow Thursday evening against FC Lugano.
At the start of the first third of the championship, they faced the Ticino side away from home; now, at the start of the second third of the championship, their opponents are FC Lugano again. This time, however, the Ticino team are the guests. The Luganesi recently won 2:0 at home against BSC Young Boys, and they are generally doing well in the CSSL. So far, they have only been beaten twice in the league (against Yverdon and Lucerne) and are currently in third place. The Luganesi are also on the road to success in Europe; they have won both UEFA Conference League matches so far. Now, however, their first opponent is GC Zurich.
Against Lugano, head coach Marco Schällibaum will be without the services of Asumah Abubakar, Kristers Tobers and Dorian Babunski (injured) and Amir Abrashi (yellow card suspension). However, Schällibaum can once again count on the services of Giotto Morandi, who returns after his yellow card suspension.
