Li Lei came to Zurich from Chinese first division club BJ Guoan in January 2022. Since his arrival, the Chinese international has played 14 games for Grasshopper Club Zurich, contributing one assist.
The left-back has now terminated his contract with the record champions early, which was set to expire in the summer, and will pursue his career in his home country.
"We are very grateful to Li Lei for his commitment to Grasshoppers as well as for his combativeness and the passion he has always shown on the pitch. We hope that he can get more playing time in China and revive his career there. We wish him every success in his private and professional life," said sporting director Bernt Haas.
