Marco Schällibaum has been the head coach of Grasshopper Club Zurich since April 2024. The Zurich native took over the team during an extremely difficult phase and successfully led them through the relegation playoffs.
Unfortunately, developments in recent weeks have fallen short of expectations. The sporting management of Grasshoppers has therefore decided to release Marco Schällibaum. Giuseppe Morello will take over as interim manager of the first team together with the current coaching staff, until the replacement is presented.
Stephan Schwarz: “The collaboration with Marco Schällibaum was always highly professional and pleasant both on and off the pitch. He took over the team at a critical time and led them to stay in the league. We are forever grateful for his commitment.”
Marco Schällibaum: “The separation hurts. Nevertheless, I would like to thank those responsible for giving me the opportunity to manage the club close to my heart. I am proud to have coached at GC and will always feel connected to the club.”
Marco Schällibaum will always be part of the history of Grasshopper Club Zurich. The club would like to thank Marco for his tireless commitment and wishes him all the best for the future.
