A week full of ups and downs came to an end for the Hoppers last weekend. On the one hand, they had two important victories against Winterthur and the Bernese Young Boys, on the other hand, they had to admit defeat in Ticino with 5:1. Three wins and three defeats, that's the Hoppers' tally in April. Now it's time for the final stretch in the championship. Five games remain in the month of May, starting with tomorrow's home game against Servette.
In the last five games, Geneva have won one, drawn three and lost one. As a result, the team from Western Switzerland are also slipping in the table and are now in 4th intermediate place, level on points with Lucerne and only one point behind FC Lugano. The race for second place thus remains open. Now Alain Geiger's team will travel to the Hoppers for the second time this season. The first meeting in Zurich was won 3:2.
For the game against Servette, head coach Giorgio Contini will still have to do without the long-term injured Momoh Francis and Filipe de Carvalho. Guilherme Schettine and Tsiy Ndenge are also still out injured. In addition, Tomás Ribeiro suffered an adductor injury in Lugano and is expected to be out for two weeks. Dominik Schmid will also miss the match due to muscular problems and Christian Herc is also out due to illness. On the other hand, Tsiy Ndenge and Meritan Shabani (from his red card suspension) will return to the squad.
