GC ZURICH FACES SERVETTE

After the victory in the Swiss Cup against Thun, the Grasshoppers continue in the championship. Servette Geneva are the next opponents in Zurich.

A goal from Sonny Kittel paved the way for the Zurich side to victory against FC Thun Berner Oberland and progress in the Swiss Cup. Muci scored the goal to make it 2:0, meaning that a Zurich derby against FCZ will now take place in the next cup round. Before the Swiss Cup is back on the programme at the beginning of December, the team will now continue in the CSSL. Tomorrow, they will face the current team in second place from Geneva. Prior to that in the CSSL, the Grasshoppers were beaten away at Yverdon Sport in the championship.

Geneva are currently one point behind Lugano in second place in the CSSL. Servette won four of their first six games. Only in the 3rd and 4th rounds did they lose to Lugano and Basel. The defeat in the fourth round was particularly heavy: They conceded a 6-0 defeat at home to FCB. Last weekend, the reigning Cup winners also had to cancel their ambitions in the Cup. They lost 2:1 away to Challenge League side FC Schaffhausen and were eliminated from the cup.

Head coach Marco Schällibaum has all of his new signings available against Servette. Striker Adama Bojang is now also eligible to play.
