Just like against Lugano (92nd minute), GC Zurich also conceded a late goal against Luzern. Klidje's equaliser in the 85th minute cost Marco Schällibaum's team the victory and so they only scored up a draw. "The equaliser hurt in the end because we deserved more and missed the 3:1 beforehand", said head coach Schällibaum directly after the game. The chance for the first three-pointer of the new season comes on Saturday. Then GC will host FC Basel 1893, against whom they will be looking to continue their good form. The Zurich side have won four of their last five CSSL home games against Basel.
FCB started the new season with two defeats. At the start of the 24/25 season, they suffered a 3:2 defeat away at Lausanne-Sport. And they also failed to pick up any points at home against Lugano last weekend. They were beaten 1:2 by the Ticino side. Now they face their first away game in Zurich, where the Basel side will be looking to show a reaction to their two opening defeats.
Head coach Marco Schällibaum will still be without Joshua Laws, Michael Kempter and Dirk Abels against FCB. In addition, the two new signings Benno Schmitz and Young-jun Lee will not yet be in the squad for Saturday.
