GC Zurich lost the derby on Sunday afternoon, 1-2. Because of Yverdon Sport’s 1-1 draw against Sion, GC now trail the West Swiss team by five points. Tomas Oral’s team now has two games in four days on the schedule. First, GC will be the guest of FC Basel 1893.
Basel are still in the middle of the title race. The Baslers have kept up with the top of the table thanks to their 0:2 away win against Winterthur. With two points behind Servette, the race for the CSSL title is still wide open. This will be the third time this season that GC and Basel face each other, and so far, the away teams have always been the winners. GC and Basel have both been able to win three points away from home against each other. The Grasshoppers will certainly remember the last game well, when they won 0:1 at the St. Jakob-Park.
Tomas Oral can't count on Benno Schmitz against Basel. The defender is suspended due to a yellow card. Tugra Turhan and Saulo Decarli are also unavailable due to injury.
The special train departs from platform 18 at 6.05 p.m. For more information about the train, please visit www.sektoriv.ch. If you cannot make it to Basel, you can follow the game as usual on 86live via live ticker and radio.
