The Zurich team failed to score at home against FC Basel 1893. They were clearly beaten 3-0 and thus, are still waiting for their first three-pointer of the new season. It was also the first game of the new season in which they failed to score a goal. Now the second away game is coming up, in which FC St.Gallen 1879 will be the host. The last away win in eastern Switzerland was 2½ years ago.
The team from eastern Switzerland were able to respond to their opening 1:0 defeat in Winterthur and then celebrated two successive victories. Firstly, they beat BSC YB 4:0 at home, before winning 3:4 away at Lausanne last weekend in a high-scoring game. In addition, St.Gallen are in the third qualifying round of the Conference League, in which they won the first leg against Śląsk Wrocław 2:0 last Wednesday. They now host GC Zurich at the Kybunpark in the CSSL.
Head coach Marco Schällibaum will still be without Joshua Laws, Michael Kempter and Dirk Abels against FCSG. Young-jun Lee is still ineligible to play, but Benno Schmitz could be in the squad for the first time.
The train for the GC-fans departs from platform 18 at 11:41 from Zurich HB. You can find more information about the train at www.sektoriv.ch. If you can't make it to St.Gallen, you can follow the game as usual on 86live via live ticker and radio.
