GC Zurich came very close to victory again last weekend. This time, however, it was a goal conceded in the 96th minute that led to a draw and the loss of two points. Despite this bitter ending, the team put in a good performance. They now want to build on this in the home game against BSC Young Boys.
After initial difficulties under their new head coach Giorgio Contini, the Bern side have picked up momentum. The last six games have resulted in five wins and a goal difference of 17:6, putting the defending champions in sixth place in the table, just five points behind the leading quartet of Basel, Lugano, Lucerne and Servette. Their most recent win in the championship was 1:0 at home against FC Lugano. During the week, they eliminated FCZ from the Swiss Cup.
There have been two duels between the two teams so far this season. While GC Zurich won 1-0 away at Wankdorf, the game at Letzigrund at the end of last month ended in a goalless 0-0 draw.
Tomas Oral will still be without Giotto Morandi and Bryan Lasme on Sunday.
