Away in St. Gallen, the Zurich side were unable to confirm their home win against YB. In a match with many VAR interruptions and a total of three penalties, GC Zurich were ultimately beaten 3:1. GC captain Amir Abrashi was sent off in the first half, leaving the Zurich side with one man less for large parts of the game. Despite Sonny Kittel equalising in the meantime, it was not enough to score points in the end.
FC Sion bounced back from two defeats in a row (against Lucerne and Basel) to beat FC Lugano 2:1 at home, with Kololli and Diouf scoring for Sion. The Valais side remain in 9th place in the table. The lead over GCZ is seven points.
The two duels so far this season have both gone to the Zurich side. At home (3:1) and away (1:0), they emerged victorious on both occasions.
Giotto Morandi and Bryan Lasme returned to team training this week. On Sunday, Tomas Oral will be without Decarli, Hammel and Seko (all yellow card suspensions), as well as captain Amir Abrashi (red card suspension).
