On 8 June 1991, the Zurich team became Swiss champions for the 22nd time. The Hoppers won 3:2 against FC Sion in a spectacular match at home on Saturday at the Hardturm and were thus able to pick up the trophy one round before the end of the championship. Led by coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, GC celebrated their championship win in front of 20,700 spectators.
The guests from the Valais managed to equalize twice in this match, but Sion could not react to Adrián de Vicente's goal in the 84th minute and so the GC team around Gren, Sforza, Koller and Co. won the championship. Below is the match telegram:
